BACKGROUND
I have been very fortunate that from a young age I have been surrounded by boats. I
often went on dingy sailing courses in my summer holidays and enjoyed spending
hours hanging off the side of boats catching crabs. In 2011 we bought Teko Too, our
12 metre yacht, in Sweden and that August I joined my Dad and uncle to sail back
across the North Sea. I spent a lot of my time gazing at the stars on night watches and
being entertained by dolphins dancing around the bow during the day. Despite a very
rough first day and night it was a great experience and really
opened my eyes to the world of sailing. Since then we have
enjoyed cruising around the west coast of Scotland, Orkney,
Ireland and Norway.
This autumn we plan to cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean and I would like to use this challenge to raise money to enable me to teach English at a school supported by the AV foundation.
After a short period home for Christmas I will swap the sea for the mountains and in early January I will leave for Nepal where I will be teaching English in a rural village school supported by the AV foundation for 3-4 months.
